Bengaluru Man Hacks Kempegowda Airport Staffer's Throat Over Suspected Affair With Wife

A man murdered a trolley operator at Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport on Wednesday over suspected extramarital affair with wife. He was later arrested by the police.

Bengaluru: A trolley operator working at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru was murdered near the parking area of Terminal 1 on Wednesday, August 28. He was attacked by a man with a knife at around 7 PM. The victim has been identified as Ramakrishna. Shortly after the incident, the Devanahalli police arrested the accused for hacking the victim to death.

According to preliminary investigation, the accused, Ramesh, murdered the victim due to a personal vendetta. Police told India Today that he suspected Ramakrishna was involved in an illicit relationship with his wife. The accused had reportedly been waiting for an opportunity to confront Ramakrishna in their village.

Later, he discovered that the latter was working at the Bengaluru airport. He arrived at the airport on Wednesday with a machete inside a college bag. Upon spotting the victim near a washroom at the Terminal 1 arrival parking area, he attacked Ramakrishna, slashing his neck with the knife.

Ramesh had travelled to the airport in a Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus, and thus his bag wasn't scanned, Deputy Commissioner of Police, North East Division, Bengaluru City said, the report noted.

The 38-year-old woman and her 16-year-old daughter were found dead at their residence in Narela on Saturday, August 24, the police said. The victims had multiple head injuries caused by blunt objects, they said. The accused, 40, was arrested in outer Delhi on Monday night, where he was hiding at the residence of his relative, news agency PTI reported.

It was discovered during the investigation that the daughter of the accused had lodged already lodged a case against her father under POCSO Act, the police said. The man was in a relationship with another woman, who had also filed a complaint against his wife. Both the cases had reached trial stages. The couple had separated. According to the police, the accused had gone to the victims' residence to persuade them to withdraw the case they had filed against him. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
