Morena News: Four women lost their lives and five others sustained injuries after an explosion caused three houses to collapse in Rathore Colony on Tanch Road, Morena, late Monday night. The blast reportedly occurred in the house of Munshi Rathore, officials said.

According to news agency PTI, Superintendent of Police (SP) Sameer Saurabh confirmed the fatalities and stated, “The primary focus is to clear the debris and rescue people trapped inside. What exactly caused the blast would be clear only after the forensic team gives a report.” Rescue operations are ongoing, with authorities deploying JCB machines to remove rubble.

Among the deceased were Vaijayanti Kushwaha, her daughter Vimala Kushwaha (45), Vidya Rathore (50), and Pooja Rathore from a neighbouring house. The injured were initially treated at Morena District Hospital before being referred to Gwalior for further care.

The explosion caused significant damage to nearby structures. Vasudev Rathore, whose house was destroyed and whose 28-year-old daughter-in-law Pooja Rathore was among the victims, speculated that the blast might have been caused by gunpowder. “LPG cylinders were found intact during the removal of debris,” he told reporters, as per PTI.

Residents also alleged that illegal firecrackers stored in the house may have triggered the explosion, news agency IANS. However, Sub Divisional Magistrate Bhupendra Singh Kushwaha said the exact cause remains unclear. “A Forensic Science Laboratory team will ascertain whether it was gunpowder or a gas cylinder explosion,” he said.
