Woman Dies After Her Dupatta Gets Caught In Potato Peeler Machine Near MP Temple

The woman was working in the bhojanshala (kitchen) when her 'dupatta' (scarf) got caught in a potato-peeling machine.

A woman died after her ‘dupatta’ got caught in the potato-peeling machines at a food centre of the Mahakaleshwar Temple in Madhya Pradesh's Ujjain on Saturday. The accident occurred at the temple's Anna Kshetra in the morning, sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Laxmi Narayan Garg.  

According to PTI, the employees said private security service and other women on the premises informed that the victim, Rajni Khatri, 30, was working in the bhojanshala (kitchen) when her 'dupatta' (scarf) got caught in a potato-peeling machine.

The dupatta tightened around the woman's neck. She was taken to a private hospital where the doctors declared her dead, the SDM said.

The exact cause of death will be revealed after the autopsy. As per the report, the government will provide financial assistance to her kin. Anna Kshetra is about 500 metres from the Mahakaleshwar Temple and provides food to the devotees.

Earlier this year, an employee of the Aavin plant in Tamil Nadu's Tiruvallur died after her dupatta got caught in a conveyor belt, leading to grievous throat injuries, as per the The Times Of India. The plant's supervisor, Varun Kumar, was later arrested on charges of causing the death due to negligence Aavin management suspended two and initiated disciplinary action against five others.

Last year, a 27-year-old woman riding pillion lost her life after her dupatta got entangled in the rear wheel of the motorbike, resulting in her falling off on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad national highway at Naigaon. A case of accidental death has been registered. This is the second case of a woman riding pillion falling off a bike on the highway this month.

Pratima Yadav who worked in a private firm, and her husband Manishkumar decided to visit the Tungareshwar temple in Vasai (east). They left their Kandivli home on the bike and were heading back at around 7:15 am. When they reached the Bapane bridge in Naigaon, Pratima's dupatta got entangled in the rear wheel of the bike, reported TOI.
