Delhi News: A 24-year-old woman lost her life, and another woman sustained injuries following an LPG cylinder explosion in Delhi's Sultanpuri area, leading to the collapse of part of a two-storey house, officials reported on Saturday.
The Delhi Fire Service (DFS) said they received a distress call about a fire in a house in Krishan Vihar at 3.39 pm, prompting the dispatch of two fire tenders to the scene. Upon arrival, it was confirmed that an LPG cylinder blast had caused the structural collapse.
“A call of a cylinder blast was received from Q - Block, near RD Public School, Krishan Vihar. Two fire tenders were sent to the spot. There was a blast in an LPG cylinder, and half portion of a house (G+1 floor) collapsed, resulting in the death of a 24-year-old woman, Rajini, on the spot. Another lady sustained burn injuries,” the DFS stated, as quoted by news agency ANI.
The rescue operation lasted approximately three hours, during which Rajini (24) and Renu (20) were found trapped under the rubble. The women were quickly transported to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital. According to a police officer, Rajini was declared dead at the hospital, while Renu, who suffered 18 per cent burns, is receiving medical treatment, news agency PTI reported. Authorities are currently investigating the incident.
Delhi: 17-Year-Old Boy Stabbed To Death In Bhalswa Dairy
In a separate case in Bhalswa Dairy, a 17-year-old boy, Afrid, was allegedly stabbed to death by unidentified assailants. Police reported that a passerby discovered Afrid lying in a pool of blood on Friday evening, PTI reported. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he was pronounced dead upon arrival, having sustained multiple stab wounds.
Preliminary investigations suggest personal enmity as a possible motive, although all angles are being examined. CCTV footage from the vicinity is being reviewed to identify the attackers. An FIR has been registered, and further investigation is underway, the police said.
