Jharkhand Polls: ‘JMM Govt Laid Out Red-Carpet For Bangladeshi Infiltrators,’ Amit Shah Vows Deportation

Jharkhand Election 2024: Amit Shah accused the Jharkhand government of welcoming Bangladeshi infiltrators and vowed to deport them if the BJP formed the government.

Jharkhand Election 2024: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday launched a strong attack on the Hemant Soren-led government in Jharkhand, accusing it of offering a "red-carpet welcome" to Bangladeshi infiltrators. Speaking at an election rally in Potka, East Singhbhum, Shah claimed that these infiltrators were settling in the state, seizing tribal land, taking up jobs meant for local youths, and engaging in anti-national activities. He further vowed that once the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) formed the government in Jharkhand, such forces would be deported and that no one would be allowed to cross the border.

"The JMM-led coalition has laid out a red carpet for Bangladeshi infiltrators, who settle in Jharkhand and grab tribal land, employment of youths, and indulge in anti-national activities. Let the BJP regime form. They will be deported, and not a bird will be allowed to cross the border," Shah asserted, as quoted by news agency PTI.

Shah also dismissed claims by the Congress and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) that the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) would infringe upon tribal rights, clarifying that the BJP would exclude tribals from its scope. He further vowed that the BJP government would imprison corrupt Congress and JMM leaders and recover the wealth they allegedly looted from the poor.

Addressing a rally in Hazaribag, Shah ridiculed the JMM-led coalition, likening it to a "burnt transformer" that failed to deliver the prosperity intended by the central government. "Narendra Modi's government is like an HT (high tension) power line. An HT line cannot supply electricity directly to your homes; a transformer is needed. The Hemant Soren government is like a burnt transformer. The Centre sends lakhs of crores of rupees through its HT line for development, but it is not transmitted to you. The time has come to change this burnt transformer," Shah remarked, as per PTI.

The Home Minister also accused the JMM-led government of being involved in various scams, including Rs 1,000 crore in MGNREGA funds, Rs 600 crore in land deals, Rs 1,000 crore in mining, and liquor. He further claimed that the ruling alliance in Jharkhand had squandered free ration sent by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Shah also criticised the JMM-Congress coalition for allowing Maoists to flourish in Jharkhand, contrasting it with the central government's success in eradicating them over the past 10 years. "The JMM-led alliance in Jharkhand allowed Maoists to prosper, but PM Modi uprooted them in 10 years," he said.

In a separate remark aimed at the Congress, Shah alleged that the party had turned Kashmir into a hub of terrorism. "The Congress made Kashmir the hub of terrorism. Its leaders feared going to Lal Chowk, but now I ask them to fearlessly visit Lal Chowk with their grandchildren," he said.
