A 50-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her son after she refused to let him move to Canada for work. The incident occurred in Molarband village in southeast Delhi's Badarpur area, police said on Saturday.

Police confirmed that the identified accused, Krishna Kant (31), called his father Surjeet Singh (52), and asked him to come home after killing his mother on the evening of November 6.

When Singh reached home, Krishna said “sorry” to him and directed him upstairs to see what he had done, PTI quoted Deputy Commissioner of Police (southeast) Ravi Kumar Singh as saying.

Upon reaching the first floor, Singh found his wife, Geeta, lying in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds. During this time, the accused fled the scene. Singh rushed Geeta to Apollo Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Police Found Accused With History Of Drug Addiction

The DCP noted that Singh has two sons. The younger son, Sahil Bholi (27), works at a bank, while Krishna Kant is unemployed and has a history of drug addiction. "Both sons are unmarried and at the time of the incident only Geeta and the accused were present at home," the officer said.

Later, Krishan Kant was arrested from the same area, and a murder case was filed against him, the officer added.

During questioning, he admitted that he wanted to migrate to Canada, but his family insisted he marry first. On the day of the incident, an argument escalated, leading Krishna Kant to stab Geeta with a knife he had previously purchased, according to the police.

Singh works in real estate, and has an office located at Tanki Road in Jaitpur, the officer said, news agency PTI reported.
