Delhi: A 26-year-old man preparaing for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination allegedly died after being electrocuted in central Delhi on July 22. The accident occurred after rain near Patel Nagar metro station.
Around 2:34 PM on Monday, Ranjit Nagar police station received information about a person stuck to an iron gate due to electric current near Power Gym.
When the police reached the spot, they found the man electrocuted by the iron gate that was live with current, Deputy Commissioner of Police (central) M Harsha Vardhan said, adding that the road was waterlogged that added to the hazardous conditions.
The victim, identified as Nilesh Rai, was taken to RML Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
An FIR has been registered at the Ranjit Nagar police station under sections 106 (1) (death due to negligence) and 285 (Danger or obstruction in public way or line of navigation) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, India Today reported.
The forensic teams also visited the site to determine how the iron gate became elctrified.
Further investigations into the matter are underway.
Woman, Daughter-In-Law Electrocuted In Rajasthan's Sawai Madhopur
In a separate incident, a woman and her daughter-in-law were electrocuted while working in a farm in Sawai Madhopur district in Rajasthan.
According to the police, 60-year-old Manbhar Devi and her daughter-in-law Seema (34) were working in a farm on the night of July 20, when a wire broke and fell on them.
Due to this, a hut in the farm also caught fire as a cylinder kept there exploded because of the current.
Following this, the family members and relatives of the victims staged a protest, demanding a compensation. But they were pacified and the bodies of the victims were handed over to them, news agency PTI reported.
