Bahraich Violence: UP CM Adityanath To Meet Victim's Family Today, Kin Of Deceased Blames Police

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will meet the family of a man killed in a communal clash during a Durga idol procession in Bahraich.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will meet the family of the man who was shot dead during a Durga idol procession in a village in Bahraich.

Ram Gopal Mishra, 22, was fatally shot during a communal face-off in Mansoor village's Mahrajganj Bazar when a procession for the immersion of Durga idol was passing through the area.

BJP MLA from trouble-hit Mahsi assembly constituency Sureshwar Singh said that the CM will meet the kin of the deceased adding that he has vowed strict action against those responsible for the stone-pelting and shooting.

The legislator also said that Station House Officer Suresh Kumar Verma and the in-charge of the local police outpost were suspended Sunday night in the wake of the violence.

Meanwhile, Mishra's family has blamed the negligence of police for Ram Gopal's death. "This incident happened due to the negligence of police. If we had got protection from the police then this wouldn't have happened," Pramod Kumar, the deceased's relative told ANI.

He demanded punishment for culprits and relevant ex gratia to be given to the wife of Ram Gopal.

The situation in the area is still tense and heavy police deployment has been made with 12 companies of PAC and RRF to ensure a law and order situation. A team of the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force also reached Bahraich to look out for the accused Salman.

Samajwadi Party Slams BJP

Samajwadi Party slammed the BJP government in the state over the violence pinning responsibility on the Yogi Adityanath government.

Party's state unit chief Shyamlal Pal said that the incident shows the irresponsibility of the state government.

"On one hand, they give the slogan of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and claim good law and order, on the other hand, there is complete hooliganism in the state. The Bharatiya Janata Party is not capable of taking everyone forward and providing them the path of development," he said.

SP chief Akhilesh Yadav also trained guns on the BJP saying worsening of the communal atmosphere ahead of byelections in the state is not a coincidence.

"The public understands everything. Everyone knows whose old strategy is to resort to violence out of fear of defeat," said the Kannauj MP.
