Badlapur School news: Two minor girls were allegedly sexually assaulted at a reputable school in Thane's Badlapur in Maharashtra. The accused, Akshay Shinde, has been arrested.

Badlapur School news: The alleged sexual assault of two minor girls at a reputable school in Badlapur has shocked the nation. While the Maharashtra government has suspended several cops for alleged inaction in the matter, one accused has been arrested. On Tuesday, hundreds of protesters took to the streets to demand justice for the two minor girls. The protestors are demanding death penalty for the accused, Akshay Shinde.

Who Is Akshay Shinde?

Two children were allegedly sexually assaulted at a Badlapur school in Maharashtra's Thane district. One of the girls is a little over three years old, the other is aged around 4 years. On Tuesday, protesters stormed the school and vandalised the classrooms and administration offices on the institution's premises.

The incident came to light when the parents of the girls questioned them after they refused to go to school. It came to the fore that a staffer had sexually abused them. The staffer, Akshay Shinde, has now been arrested.

Akshay Shinde used to work as a sweeper at the school.

The 24-year-old was hired by the school, around 50 km from Mumbai, from a cleaning company on a contractual basis on August 1. It came to light on August 14 that he had sexually assaulted two minor girls. The school where this incident took place is a reputable institution in Badlapur. The school imparts education in Marathi and English. The number of students in the school is around 1,200.

How The Badlapur Sexual Assault Case Came To Light

The sexual assault of the two girls came to light on August 14. One of these girls told her grandfather that she was experiencing a burning sensation near her private parts. This girl also told her parents that the same thing was happening with a friend. The girl's parents then called the parents of the other girl and they found out that both girls were reluctant to go to school.

After going deeper into the matter, it came to light that both the girls were being sexually abused.

Government Assures Fast-Track Investigation In Badlapur Case

The Eknath Shinde-led Maharashtra government has announced that the case will be tried in a fast-track court. The school has, meanwhile, issued an apology over the incident. If the police have delayed in filing a case in this case, action will be taken against the errant officers, said the government. Several cops have already been suspended. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde assured that if the school is found guilty in this case, action will be taken against the school administration.
