This Lifestyle Brand To Hire 9,000 Employees For Hundreds Of Upcoming Stores

Singhania mentioned on Monday that the apparel firm aims to hire an average of 10 employees per store for the 900 new outlets it plans to open. He did not reveal the size of the current workforce

Indian apparel company Raymond Lifestyle is planning to hire approximately 9,000 workers over the next three years as it expands with hundreds of new stores, Group Chairman Gautam Singhania told the news agency Reuters. Founded in 1925, Raymond recently streamlined its operations by spinning off its lifestyle division to simplify its group structure, attract more investors, and enhance access to capital for the newly independent entity.

Singhania mentioned on Monday that the apparel firm aims to hire an average of 10 employees per store for the 900 new outlets it plans to open. He did not reveal the size of the current workforce across its nearly 1,500 existing stores.

Additionally, Raymond Lifestyle plans to hire for various roles in its factories as it seeks to expand its garmenting capacity, although Singhania did not provide further details. This move comes as Bangladesh, a major apparel production hub, faces political unrest and flooding.

The firm, which serves notable apparel chains like JC Penney and Macy's, has received a surge of inquiries from global clients as brands are increasingly looking to relocate their operations to India to fulfil their needs, Singhania noted.

Last year, its garments division, which exports to the United States, Europe, and Japan, reported sales of Rs 1,139 crore ($135.5 million), contributing over 10 per cent to the group's overall revenue.

Separately, Singhania mentioned that Raymond Lifestyle, known for its men’s suits, is exploring opportunities in the rapidly growing fast fashion sector in India. He noted that Tata Group-owned Zudio has been particularly successful in this market.

Indian retail company Trent, which operates the popular Zudio chain, has consistently outperformed its competitors. As consumers seek to revamp their wardrobes without breaking the bank, they are drawn to Zudio's stores, where they can find a wide range of products, including dresses and perfumes, all priced under Rs 999.
