She furthered her education with a Master of Science in Engineering Management and Leadership from Santa Clara University in 1986.

Residing in Saratoga, California, Ullal is married to Vijay Ullal, a venture capitalist and former president and chief operating officer of Fairchild Semiconductor. The couple has two daughters. Ullal is also the sister of the late Saratoga City Councilwoman Susie Nagpal, who is survived by a son and daughter. Forbes estimates that Ullal owns approximately 5 per cent of Arista's stock, with some shares designated for her children, niece, and nephew.
