Amazon, Flipkart May Skip Annual Mega Sale Events If Third Wave Of Covid-19 Occurs In India

There are reports making rounds claiming that both the firms may not conduct their mega sale events if there's another surge in Covid-19 infections in the country around Diwali time. 

With several experts suggesting a possible outbreak of third wave of  deadly Coronavirus in the country around September or October this year, governments, organisations, markets, industries and individuals are already framing policies to curb the spread and control the affect affects. Meanwhile, two biggest e-commerce companies in India - Flipkart and Amazon may give a miss to their annual pre-Diwali mega sales events this year in wake of probable third wave of Covid-19. 

There are reports making rounds claiming that both the firms may not conduct their mega sale events if there's another surge in Covid-19 infections in the country around Diwali time.

Instead of going their ways, both the ecommerce giants rather come up with a lowkey sales events, reported the Economic Times. Citing people familier with the matter, publication reported that "companies believe another surge in Covid-19 infections could severely impact sales and dent the image of their biggest sales properties."

It is to be noted that the 'Big Billion Day' mega sale organised by Flipkart and 'Great Indian Festival' by Amazon usually happen around Diwali festivals, and generate immense consumer interests. In 2020, the mega sale events had reportedly clocked sales of about $3.1 billion in the first four and a half days of the festive period. 

Flipkart Big Saving Days Sale

While the news is yet to be assertained, Flipkart Big Saving Days sale is set to begin from Sunday, June 13 which will last until June 16. The Big Saving Days sale with big offers, deals, and discounts on various smartphones, tablets, laptops, wearables, and other electronic devices, will go live on Flipkart starting on the mmidnight of June 12 for for Flipkart Plus members. It will commence for regular customers from June 13.

According to the reports, the e-commerce giant will also host specific ‘Crazy Deals' at 12am, 8am, and 4pm during the sale and provide select offers for a limited period.
