New Delhi: At ABP News' Budget Conclave, Union Cabinet Minister, Minister of Textiles and Minister of Women and Child Development Smriti Irani spoke about the umbrella scheme Mission Vatsalya saying “the government is committed to the protection and welfare of children.”


She talked about Ujjwala Yojana, the finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced and addition of 1 crore more beneficiaries to the scheme. "Through the government’s flagship scheme women of below poverty line (BPL) families are provided with cooking gas connections are given free of cost."


Dismissing Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's accusation of selling the country to capitalists, she said that “disinvestment is not selling the country, the business of government is not being in business.” She added "that during such difficult times, you'd think that a responsible opposition will have a constructive stand but that can't be expected out of Rahul Gandhi"


Smriti Irani said that the National Research Foundation has been allocated with Rs. 50,000 crores "which will a boost scientific reasearch and engineering in the country". Talking about the farmers and MSPs, she criticized Congress for supporting the farmers and said "in 2013-14 Congress government only did a Rs. 90 crore MSP operation whereas Narendra Modi government until January 2021, has invested about Rs. 25 crores and the farmers have received about one lakhs crores into their bank accounts." 


Commenting on Mamta Banerjee's disatisfaction with Budget 2021, "this is first time, that chief minister has refused the budget allotment given to its own state. Though this is not first time." She requested Mamta Banerjee not to vent her anger towards PM Modi on the people of West Bengal. She said that even the "people know that TMC is going and BJP will enter West Bengal."
