RC Transfer: Make Sure To Get RC Transferred While Buying Or Selling An Old Vehicle

Used Cars Sale Buy: One of the important things amongst the important things is not to forget to transfer the RC (Registration Certificate) of the vehicle.

RC Transfer For Used Cars: There are many things that you should keep in mind if you are buying or selling an old vehicle. One of the important things amongst these is not to forget to transfer the RC (Registration Certificate) of the vehicle. This is an essential aspect that must be taken care of by both the buyer and seller of the vehicle because while selling or buying vehicles, RC transfer is very important. If this is not done then it might get the car owner in trouble.

What Will Happen If RC Transfer Is Not Undertaken?

Let us take this as an example. Let us say you sold the car and did not transfer the RC in the name of the new owner. Now if the new owner of the car uses the car for any wrong or illegal activities, or an accident occurs, the administration will primarily look for the person in whose name the car is registered i.e. the person whose name is on the RC or if there is challan issued on the car, even in this situation, the challan will reach at the address of the person in whose name the car is registered.

Who Is The Lawful Owner Of The Car?

In fact, the one in whose name the car is registered is considered the legal owner of the car. So always remember to get the RC transferred whenever you are selling or buying a car. Get this work done on a priority basis. It is considered illegal in India to drive a car without RC. There is also a provision of penalty if caught doing so.

From Where Can You Get The RC transferred?

At present, there are many platforms where not only old cars are bought and sold but the facility of RC transfer is also provided so that customers do not face any inconvenience. However, if you want to do the RC transfer on your own, you can do so from the respective RTO. For this, the old and new owners of the vehicle will have to go to the RTO at least once. Important forms and documents will have to be submitted to get the RC transferred.
