Karwa Chauth 2023: Check Out Amritsar Upavasa, Puja Muhurat, Moonrise And Other Timings

Karwa Chauth is one of the major festivals for Hindus, where married women observe a nirjala fast from dawn to dusk, praying to Chauth Mata or Goddess Gauri for the well-being of their husbands.

Karwa Chauth, also known as Karaka Chaturthi or Karva Chauth, is an annual Hindu festival celebrated on the Chaturthi of Krishna Paksha in the Hindu month of Kartik. While the date of this celebration remains consistent throughout India, certain regions such as Gujarat, Maharashtra, and South India, which follow the Amant calendar, observe Karva Chauth in the month of Ashwin. In 2023, this significant day falls on November 1st. On Karwa Chauth, married women undertake a nirjala vrat, fasting from dawn until moonrise to pray for the long life of their husbands. They abstain from food and water throughout the day and break their fast after worshipping the moon and offering Arghya. The fast is traditionally concluded when their husbands feed them a morsel of food and a sip of water. Therefore, sighting the moon holds great importance in the Karwa Chauth fast.

Karwa Chauth is one of the major festivals for Hindus, where married women observe a nirjala fast from dawn to dusk, praying to Chauth Mata or Goddess Gauri for the well-being of their husbands. In some regions, unmarried women also observe this fast, hoping to find their desired life partner. This day is celebrated with immense joy and happiness across the country.

According to Drik Panchang, Karwa Chauth in 2023 falls on November 1st, with the puja muhurat spanning from 5:36 am to 6:54 pm. The Chaturthi Tithi commences on October 31 at 9:30 pm and concludes on November 1 at 9:19 pm. The fasting period lasts from 6:33 am to 8:15 pm, with the moonrise scheduled for 8:15 pm on that day.
