Holi, known as the 'Festival of Colours', is a vibrant and joyous celebration deeply rooted in Hindu tradition. Observed annually on the full moon day of the Falgun month, it marks the triumph of good over evil and the arrival of spring. The festivities commence with Holika Dahan, where a bonfire is lit to symbolise the burning of Holika, a demoness, and the victory of virtue, while the next day is celebrated with enthusiasm as people engage in playing with colours, smearing each other with 'gulal' and revelling in the joyous atmosphere.

When Will Holi Be Celebrated In 2024?

According to the Hindu Panchang, the full moon of the Falgun month will begin on the morning of March 24 at 9:54 AM and conclude on March 25 at 12:29 PM.

Therefore, Holika Dahan will be observed on March 24, Sunday, and the auspicious time for this is from 11:13 PM to 12:27 AM. Following this, Holi will be played the next day, on March 25, Monday.

Tips To Get Rid Of Negative Energies During Holika Dahan:

Just as people desire the colours of Holi to always shine in their lives, negative energies present at home often lead to troubles. However, scriptures mention remedies that can provide relief from troubles when performed on the night of Holi.

Preparation for Holika Dahan begins 40 days in advance. Certain rituals performed on the night of Holika Dahan prove to be very effective. Let's know about these rituals.

  • If you are troubled by debts, reciting the Narasimha Stotra in the evening of Holika Dahan will be very beneficial for you. In addition, burning coconut in the fire after Holika Dahan helps to overcome obstacles in employment.
  • On this day, the evil eye should be removed from the house, shop, and workplace by burning it in Holika. This helps to remove all obstacles in progress.
  • If any member of the household is suffering from an old illness, special remedies should be done on the day of Holika Dahan. Spread the remaining ashes of Holika Dahan at the place where the patient sleeps. It is believed that applying this ash to the body helps to get rid of the disease quickly.
  • If there are repeated obstacles in your marriage, take a betel leaf and tie a lump of turmeric with betel nut and burn it in Holika.
  • In case of ups and downs in married life, spread a white cloth on a platform in the north direction on the night of Holika Dahan. Now, establish a Navgrah Yantra on it with heaps of green gram, chickpeas, rice, wheat, lentils, black gram, and sesame seeds. Then, apply saffron tilak and light a ghee lamp and perform puja.
