Chhath Puja 2023 Samagri List: The festival of Chhath Puja is celebrated with great enthusiasm throughout the country. Mainly observed with fervour in the northern states of Bihar, Jharkhand, and eastern Uttar Pradesh, Chhath is celebrated six days after Diwali. This festival is dedicated to Lord Surya (Sun God) and Chhathi Maiya. On this day, women observe a 36-hour Nirjala Vrat (fast without water) for the longevity, prosperity, and happiness of their offspring.
The four-day Chhath celebration begins tomorrow, November 17, with Nahay-Khay. The materials used during Chhath Puja hold special significance. To ensure that no essential item is missed during the ritual preparations, let's go through the list of puja materials used in Chhath Puja.
Chhath Puja Samagri List:
- New Clothes: The fasting woman should first purchase a new saree for herself.
- Bamboo Baskets: Purchase two large bamboo baskets for keeping prasad during Chhath Puja. The entire puja material is placed in these baskets, and men carry them on their heads to the river or pond for worship.
- Soup Pot: A soup pot made of bamboo or brass is required.
- Milk and Water Glass: Bring a glass, lota, or kalash for milk and water offerings.
- Thali: A thali (plate) is also needed for the puja.
Essential Puja Items:
- Sugarcane: Five sugarcane sticks with leaves are considered crucial for the puja.
- Coconut with Water: A coconut filled with water.
- Rice: Use rice for offerings.
- Vermilion (Sindoor): Yellow vermilion for applying tilak.
- Deepak (Lamp) and Ghee: A lamp and ghee for lighting it.
- Bati (Wick): Use bati for the lamp.
