AP CM Jagan Mohan Reddy Takes Short Break Post-Polls, Embarks On Foreign Tour

Accompanying the YSRCP chief were his wife, YS Bharathi, and their daughters, Harsha and Varsha.

After an intense simultaneous electoral poll battle in Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy embarked on a family trip to the UK on Friday. Accompanying the YSRCP chief were his wife, YS Bharathi, and their daughters, Harsha and Varsha.

The family plans to visit London first, followed by France and Switzerland.

On Tuesday, a special CBI court also granted the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) chief permission to visit the UK with his family from May 17 to June 1, following his petition. With 11 cases currently pending against the YSRC supremo, the CBI has expressed concerns over granting him permission to travel internationally, citing unresolved legal matters. The CBI informed the court that the primary hearing for Jagan's case is scheduled for May 15.

Jagan's advocate argued that the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister has traveled abroad multiple times without violating any court orders. Citing the constitutional right to travel, he requested permission for Jagan to travel internationally.

Meanwhile, Jagan Mohan Reddy served as the star campaigner for the YSRC during the months long campaign. Y.S. Bharathi also actively campaigned in the Pulivendula Assembly constituency, where the Chief Minister was a candidate. Notably, just a day before departing for his foreign tour, Jagan met with a team from IPAC, who provided strategic political advice to YSRC for the 2024 elections.

The election was intense since Jagan's YSRCP was contesting against a mega alliance of TDP-Janasena-BJP and state Congress led by his sister YS Sharmila.

The state also witnessed tense voting with clashes between TDP and YSRCP workers in some places.

Meanwhile, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, whose private trip to three foreign nations sparked controversy, cut short his travels and returned to the state on Saturday. The CM faced criticism from both the Congress and BJP for undertaking the trip amidst state issues.
