The heat wave is expected to hit 7 mandals in Alluri Sitarama Raju district, 15 in Anakapalli, 8 in East Godavari, 4 in Eluru, 6 in Gunturu, 9 in Kakinada, 6 in Krishna, 4 in Nandyala, 2 in Palnadu, 10 in Parvathipuramanyam, and 13 each in Vizianagaram and Kakinada, said APSDMA in a statement on Monday.
"Mercury would shoot up in the south coastal AP too. But normal temperatures would prevail in Rayalaseema, where a trough has formed. Dry winds from northwest India were increasing the temperature, and the situation would remain so until a low pressure is formed in the Bay of Bengal and winds in an easterly direction started blowing. This will probably happen during the second week of May, " Senior IMD scientist S Karunasagar told the Deccan Chronicle.
