IMD Issues Heatwave Alert For Coastal Andhra Pradesh Region — Check Districts Impacted

As per the A.P. State Disaster Management Authority's (APSDMA) forecast, 116 mandals are likely to experience heatwave conditions on Monday.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that severe heatwave conditions are likely to prevail over north coastal Andhra Pradesh. The Regional Meteorological Centre (Amaravati) said that a heat wave was likely to occur at isolated places over Srikakulam, Parvathipuram Manyam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, Sri Alluri Sitamaraju, Kakinada, West Godavari, Krishna, Palnadu, Guntur, Bapatla, and Prakasam districts of Andhra Pradesh on Monday.

As per the AP State Disaster Management Authority's (APSDMA) forecast, 116 mandals are likely to experience heatwave conditions on Monday.

The heat wave is expected to hit 7 mandals in Alluri Sitarama Raju district, 15 in Anakapalli, 8 in East Godavari, 4 in Eluru, 6 in Gunturu, 9 in Kakinada, 6 in Krishna, 4 in Nandyala, 2 in Palnadu, 10 in Parvathipuramanyam, and 13 each in Vizianagaram and Kakinada, said APSDMA in a statement on Monday.

"Mercury would shoot up in the south coastal AP too. But normal temperatures would prevail in Rayalaseema, where a trough has formed. Dry winds from northwest India were increasing the temperature, and the situation would remain so until a low pressure is formed in the Bay of Bengal and winds in an easterly direction started blowing. This will probably happen during the second week of May, " Senior IMD scientist S Karunasagar told the Deccan Chronicle.
