Telugu Desam President and former chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday alleged that the Andhra Pradesh government was exploiting farmers in the purchase of paddy and is not responding to their problems. He said that farmers are committing suicide because of the inefficiency of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government. Naidu claimed that the farmers have not even received their insurance after suffering crop losses.
"The present govt is not responding to the problems of the farmers. After the crop loss, the farmers have not even received their insurance. Farmers are committing suicide. This shows the inefficiency of the govt. I have assured the farmers that TDP stands with them, said Chandrababu Naidu, as quoted by ANI.
Naidu alleged that 4 to 5 kilograms of extra paddy were taken by buyers from farmers and he questioned Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy as to why he was taking extra paddy from farmers. He said that he would stay with farmers until the entire paddy is purchased by the government.

Chandra Babu Naidu arrived in West Godavari and started his padayatra as part of 'Rythu Porubata' from Tanuku to Iragavaram village by foot. He organised a Rachabanda programme with farmers.
Meanwhile, Kakinada Rural MLA Kurasala Kannababu on Thursday slammed Telugu Desam chief N. Chandrababu Naidu and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan over their alleged politics on farmers’ issues, especially paddy procurement.
"Is it possible to shift tonnes of paddy overnight from the fields? Telugu Desam and Jana Sena are throwing mud on the government on agriculture matters, and they are making a vicious campaign on untimely rains," Kannababu said, as quoted by the Deccan Chronicle.
Kannababu warned Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyana against making tours without ascertaining the facts at the ground level and exhorted them to behave socially responsible over farmers’ issues without politicising them.
He said that the YSRCP government made payments to farmers within five days of purchasing the paddy. He said that as per the instructions of Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, ministers, and MLAs are visiting paddy fields to interact with farmers and take steps to procure paddy.
