To assist children from low-income families to compete with their peers and integrate into society, the state government has taken on the distribution of content-loaded tabs to all class 8th students in all government-managed schools. Overall, 5,18,740 tablets will be distributed to 4,59,564 Class 8th students and 59,176 teachers across the state.

Quoting former US President John F Kennedy at the launch of the event, Jagan said, “All of us do not have equal talent, but all of us should have an equal opportunity to develop our talents” adding that the initiative of distributing tabs has been taken up to ensure that children receive fully aided knowledge and education.

These tabs are being developed by Samsung at Rs 688 crore for the exchequer. It will be provided with Byju's preloaded content for which the state government has spent Rs 778 crore. The distribution of tabs will continue for a week.

At the event, the CM explained that the “Education revolution has started in Andhra Pradesh. It is not an expense for the government, it is a huge responsibility. The YSRCP government aims to develop schools that provide quality education to every child and also provide financial support to educate that child. This will ensure a bright future for the future generations.”

E-Content Based Tablets Features

The Class 8 and 9 Byju's contents are preloaded in tabs through a memory card to make the curriculum accessible day and night, even offline for students without internet access.

Officials said the free e-content in English and Telugu makes learning easy for students in math, biology, physics, chemistry, history, geology, and civics subjects through the Premium App (Byju's). The tablet contains 67 chapters, each divided into concepts, 300 videos on 472 concepts, and 168 solved question banks.

The content is created not only in the form of texts but also as images, videos, audio, and animations in three-dimensional (3D) format so that children can easily understand the curriculum.

Further, there is special software to block unwanted sites and apps in tabs, apart from a 3-year warranty. If any problem occurs, students need to give the tab to the nearest secretariat, which will arrange for repair or replacement. This responsibility lies with the local secretariat.
