Gujarat: 3 Dead, 1 Injured As Truck And Tanker Catch Fire After Collision In Vadodara

Three persons were charred to death and one suffered from injuries when a truck and a tanker caught fire after colliding head-on in Gujarat's Vadodara district on Sunday.

Three persons were charred to death and one suffered from injuries when a truck and a tanker caught fire after colliding head-on in Gujarat's Vadodara district on Sunday morning, police said, as reported by the news agency PTI. The accident took place at around 6.30 am near Masar village, located 40 km from Vadodara city, an official from Vadu police station said.

"The truck, loaded with tiles and on way to Maharashtra from Morbi in Gujarat, collided head-on with an empty tanker on a state highway connecting Padra and Jambusar," he said, as quoted by PTI. The driver cabins of both the truck and the tanker burst into flames after the collision. The drivers of both the vehicles and tanker cleaner were charred to death, the official said.

The truck cleaner received burn injuries and was rushed to a government hospital in Vadodara for treatment, he said. 

In another incident in Delhi, a fire broke out at slums in Jahangirpuri area on Sunday and at least 11 fire engines reached the spot to contain the blaze. The fire had started in an open area where garbage was lying and is is being extinguished, but the cooling process will take time, an official said.

"We received information about a fire in the slums of Jahangirpuri area. 11-12 fire engines reached the spot. We found that the fire had started in an open area where garbage was lying. The fire is being extinguished, but the cooling process will take time": Rajeev Kumar Sinha, Assistant Divisional Officer, Delhi Fire Service said, as per ANI. The fire broke out in the shanty in northwest Delhi's Jahangirpuri broke out at 10.23 am, news agency PTI reported officials as saying. 

Last month, a massive fire broke out at a dumping ground in Noida, Sector 32 in Uttar Pradesh on May 18.

After a while, the fire was brought under control and Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP), Noida, Shakti Awasthi, said that the reason for the fire was dry leaves lying in the dumping ground.
