Trump to hold campaign rally in Arizona

Phoenix (Arizona) [USA], August 23 (ANI): United States President Donald Trump will hold a campaign rally in downtown Phoenix.

The rally, scheduled for 7 p.m. (local time) at the Phoenix Convention Center, is Trump's maiden visit as president to Arizona.

According to CNN, "Democrats in Arizona, including Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton, are lambasting Trump for even visiting the state -- particularly for a campaign rally."

An Arizona Democrat Rep. Ruben Gallego stated, "Trump's unpredictable and bombastic style makes us worry that he will come here and make things worse, not better and he does not know how to be a unifier."

Comparing Trump with the former US President George Bush, Gallego said, "Trump does not know how to ease the pain of this country like we saw George Bush do after 9/11."

Arizona is home to high-profile supporters of Trump, like Joe Arpaio who is a controversial former Arizona sheriff who was convicted of contempt by a federal judge last month.

The state, also, is a home to staunch critics of Trump, like Senators Jeff Flake and John McCain, both Republicans who have feuded openly with the president.

Trump's day in Arizona will begin near the U.S. border with Mexico, Yuma, to view equipment used by US Customs and Border Patrol agents to track illegal crossings.

Less than 24 hours post delivering a primetime speech outlining his Afghanistan strategy, Trump is all set to rock Phoenix. (ANI)
