Trump asks to plan ahead as Hurricane Harvey intensifies
Washington [U.S.A.], August 25 (ANI): United States President Donald Trump on Thursday afternoon (local time) directed nation's various departments to plan ahead as the Hurricane Harvey intensifies.
Trump in a tweet instructed Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and National Hurricane Centre to be prepared ahead as Hurricane Harvey intensifies.
"As #HurricaneHarvey intensifies - remember to #PlanAhead. hurricanes.gov, http://www.ready.gov, fema.gov," Trump tweeted.
"Harvey is rapidly strengthening and is forecast to become a Category 3 hurricane with winds of at least 111 mph by the time it hits the middle Texas coast late Friday or early Saturday," reported CNN, quoting the hurricane center.
Harvey is likely to bring multiple hazards, including heavy rainfall dangerous storm-surge flooding and destructive winds.
Texas in 2001 has witnessed multibillion-dollar disaster caused by the Tropical Storm Allison which brought 40 inches of rain in Houston.
In neighbouring Louisiana, Governor John Bel Edwards signed a state-wide emergency declaration as Southwest Louisiana could see up to 10 inches of rain from the storm, the reports said. (ANI)
