Pak SC is an independent institution: CJP Saqib Nisar

Islamabad [Pakistan], Jan. 20 (ANI): Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar said on Saturday that the Supreme Court of Pakistan was an "independent institution", which is completely free from external influences.

"Everyone should be proud of an independent judiciary. The judiciary is completely independent and all citizens should be proud of this," CJP Nisar told lawyers of Lahore Bar Association (LBA), as reported by the Express Tribune.

The comments by the CJP come at a time when former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif criticised the country's judiciary for colluding with vested interests.

He blamed the country's highest court for his removal from the office and stated that the evidence found against him in the Panama Paper leaks case were "false and imaginary". (ANI)
