Hafiz Saeed threatening Baloch people under Pak's patronage: Munir Mengal

Geneva [Switzerland], June 20 (ANI): Exiled Baloch leader Munir Mengal has alleged that Hafiz Saeed, head of Jamaat-ud-Dawa, has been threatening the local people in Balochistan under the patronage of Pakistan.

Speaking during the ongoing 35th session of UN Security Council in Geneva, Munir Mengal, founder of Baloch Voice Association said, "On one side the state purposefully facilitated the ex-chief of Taliban Mullah Mansoor, and the head of Jamat-ud- Dawa Hafiz Saeed, roaming inside Balochistan preaching hate speeches and threatening the local secular people. Hafiz is using the religious terrorist organisations against the Baloch Nationalist Force who are struggling against annexation of their land to an Islamic state without their consent."

"On the other side the attacks on the Baloch females to keep them away from education, threatening the western style coeducation institutes and killing of Mr. Zahid Baloch only for running a co-education institute in Gwadar needs the intervention of this high esteemed council and UN bodies," he added.

On May 21, 2016, Mansour had been killed in a U.S. drone strike in Pakistan and after four days, Habatullah Akhundzada was promoted to the top position in the Taliban.

"My NGO has expressed serious concerns that the Islamic state of Pakistan has failed to address the rights of persons affected by discrimination based on origin and descent, the discrimination and the degrading practice of 'race' the Baloch are facing from the controlling authorities, affecting more than 10 million people only in Balochistan," Mengal further added.

Speaking on the atrocities on Baloch people, Mengal said, "The attack by the Frontier Corps state security forces on educational institutes, with grenade skilling some students and injuring hundreds including university professors just for celebrating their cultural day is a sign of the Islamic state strategic policy towards the Baloch people."

"It subjects millions of religious minorities particularly zikris, to a life without de facto equal rights and opportunities. We regret that the people in Balochistan are subjected to biased judiciary system, situation of impunity, systematic use of force, and lack of political will to eliminate this form of discrimination has alleviated the situation to the slow motion genocide of the Baloch people," Mengal further said.

Zikris, who are predominantly Baloch, have been living in the southern part of Balochistan called Makran. (ANI)
