Punjabi Bagh flyover is the 39th flyover to be inaugurated since the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) came into power.
The length of the flyover is 1.12 km and will give relief from traffic at three red lights. “40,800 hours of the people of Delhi will be saved with the flyover”, said Atishi. It frees people from traffic jams but also improves the pace of life.
Atishi said “about 3.45 lakh people will benefit from this flyover on a daily basis”.
Atishi said that AAP-led Delhi government has constructed more than 10,000 km of roads.
It will be easier for commuters travelling between Azadpur, Raja Garden, Paschim Vihar, Najafgarh, and ESI Hospital.
Punjabi Bagh flyover complements the double-lane Moti Nagar flyover, expanded in March under Arvind Kejriwal's leadership. In October, Atishi said that flyovers were vital for decongesting traffic on Ring Road.
Atishi claimed the initiative would cut pollution like planting 65,000 trees.
On December 25, Atishi inaugurated a six-lane flyover which connects the Apsara Border to Anand Vihar.
“Delhi ranked fourth globally for traffic congestion in 2014, it has now dropped to 44th”, said Atishi.
Athishi said she hoped the next 5 years, Delhi’s “pace of development will continue to accelerate”.
