The Bharatiya Janata Party crossed the majority seat tally in Haryana, in the initial hour of counting of votes on Thursday. The much-anticipated trends projected BJP leading on 53 seats, while the Congress was leading on 19 and the Jannayak Janta Party on 4. The recently conducted Assembly Elections witnessed a slump in voter turnout compared to 2014 elections with estimated turnout in Maharashtra stood at 58 per cent and in Haryana 64 per cent.
In Haryana, 19,578 polling stations were set up whereas there were 96,661 polling booths in Maharashtra for citizens to cast their ballot.
