UP Cabinet Minister's controversial comment on nature of rape

"The nature of rape is serious. If it is a rape of a minor, do we treat it as a lesser crime? But sometimes reports emerge about rape incidents of 30-35-year-old married women. We have got reports of such rape incidents 7-8 years later (after the crime) from adults who have been in a relationship saying that they had been wronged before. The issue should have been reported seven years ago. Whenever such incidents occur, we take the Chief Minister's counsel and then take action accordingly," he said.
