Before PNB Scam, Indian government helped Punjab National Bank a lot. As it was running in loses, government of India had helped it with tax payers' money.

In 2010-11: Rs 184 crore were given
2011-2012: Rs 655 crore were given
2012-13: Rs 1248 crore
2013-14: Rs 500 crore
2014-2015: Rs 870 crore
2015-16: Rs 1732 crore
2016-2017: Rs 2112 crore
2017-2018: Rs 5473 crore were given to the bank as help
