Bangladesh Crisis News: Khaleda Zia's Party Calls Meeting | ABP News

August 5, 2024, will be remembered in Bangladesh's history as the day the military overthrew Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's government. The escalating challenges faced by Hasina forced her to flee the country. In Bangladesh, Khaleda Zia and Sheikh Hasina are two prominent women who have alternated in power. Just as Hasina's rule has now ended, Zia also lost her position under similar circumstances. Khaleda Zia served as Prime Minister from 2001 to 2006, but political violence escalated and the military took control. During this period, Zia and her two sons faced corruption charges. When Hasina's government came to power in 2009, she ensured Zia would not return to power. In 2018, Zia was convicted of embezzling funds from an orphanage and sentenced to 17 years in prison.
