Maharashtra Coal Crisis: Appeal made to reduce electricity consumption
The coal crisis in the country has started showing its repercussions on power generation. 13 units of coal-fired thermal power plants in Maharashtra's Chandrapur, Nashik and Bhusaval have shut down due to shortage of coal. Due to this 3330 MW of electricity generation has almost come to a standstill. Maharashtra's Energy Ministry says that despite this crisis, they are making every effort to avoid power cuts.
