We have started registering FIRs under new laws: CP Sanjay Arora on new criminal laws

We have started registering FIRs under new laws: CP Sanjay Arora on new criminal laws: New Delhi, July 01 (ANI): After three new criminal laws come into effect today, Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora on July 01 said that FIRs have been started registering under the new laws.   “Delhi Police is ready to implement the three new laws. We have started registering FIRs under the new laws from today morning,” said Sanjay Arora. Chhaya Sharma, Special CP, Training, Delhi, says, "The law doesn't work effectively on a retrospective basis. Therefore, old cases (previously registered) will be handled under IPC, and CRPC will be effective for those cases. However, starting today, July 1st, new cases will be registered under the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Similarly, the investigation process starting today will adhere to the provisions of the Indian Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), not CRPC. Old cases will be handled under old provisions - CRPC and IPC. New cases will be dealt with under the provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Indian Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).
