Vegetable Prices Surge Due To Tremendous Rainfall | ABP News
India's consumer price inflation likely rebounded in June, ending a five-month downward trend, according to a Reuters survey of 54 economists. Vegetable prices surged due to crop damage from extreme weather, driving inflation higher. Tomato, onion, and potato prices skyrocketed as severe heat and floods in northern states disrupted agricultural production. The poll predicts consumer price inflation rose to 4.80% year-on-year in June, up from 4.75% in May. Food items, which account for half of the CPI basket, were the primary contributors to the increase. This uptick may impact monetary policy decisions, signaling a potential hike in interest rates to curb inflationary pressures.
