UP Elections 2022: Akhilesh Yadav follows father's footsteps to win polls

Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party, will run for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly from the Karhal constituency in Mainpuri district, the party said on Thursday. It can be said that Akhilesh Yadav is following his father and Samajwadi Party's veteran leader Mulayam Singh Yadav as he has decided to contest elections from the Karhal constituency. The SP has held the Lok Sabha seat in this constituency for nine consecutive terms. Mulayam Singh Yadav, the sitting MP and patriarch of the SP, is representing it for the fifth time. Three of the four assembly seats in the Mainpuri district are now held by the SP. Sobaran Singh Yadav has been representing Karhal, a Yadav-dominated constituency, since 2007.
