Shiv Sena Uddhav Faction Makes Major Demand Over Waqf Amendment Bill | ABP News
Thursday’s parliamentary session is expected to be highly tumultuous as the government is anticipated to introduce a bill to amend the Waqf Act. Both the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha are likely to see significant disruptions, with several parties, including the Samajwadi Party, already expressing strong opposition. The Waqf (Amendment) Bill proposes renaming the Waqf Act, 1995, to the ‘Unified Waqf Management, Empowerment, Efficiency, and Development Act, 1995’. The bill, which was distributed to Lok Sabha members on Tuesday night before its introduction, includes a provision to remove Section 40 of the current law. This section pertains to the board's powers to determine whether a property is classified as Waqf property, and its removal has sparked considerable debate.
