Preparations underway in Drass to celebrate 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas | ABP News
Ahead of the grand celebrations to mark the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, Drass in Kargil district of Ladakh is preparing to pay homage to the fallen soldiers, and to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Celebrations for the 'Rajat Jayanti', or Silver Jubilee of India's victory over Pakistan in the 1999 war are scheduled to be held in Drass from July 24 to 26. "Ahead of Kargil Diwas, a lot of preparation is going on to celebrate and commemorate the fallen soldiers. We hear that PM Modi will also visit Drass. We are very excited for his visit and it will boost the morale of our defence forces. With the Prime Minister's visit we hope that the Pashminda - also known as the coldest region - will also get some attention from the prime minister for its development," Says Resident. Prime Minister Modi is set to be in Ladakh on July 26 to attend the 25th anniversary celebrations of Kargil Vijay Diwas. The prime minister will also interact with 'Veer Naris' (War Widows) and visit Veer Bhoomi. PM Modi will also inaugurate 'Shinku La Tunnel' virtually.
