However, BJP has not achieved majority. News agency PTI quoted sources as saying that after Narendra Modi was elected leader of the NDA parliamentary party, senior members of the alliance like TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu and Janata Dal (United) chief Nitish Kumar met President Draupadi Murmu. During this, the list of MPs supporting the President will be handed over. The NDA has 293 MPs, which is more than the majority mark of 272 in the 543-member Lok Sabha. At the same time, senior BJP leaders including Union Minister Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh held a day-long meeting on Thursday and discussed about accelerating the efforts of government formation. This meeting took place at the residence of BJP President JP Nadda. According to sources, some senior officials of the Sangh were also present in this meeting. According to party leaders, in this meeting other issues including the participation of NDA constituents in the formation of the future Council of Ministers were discussed. However, this time the role of its two allies TDP and JDU is going to be most important in the government formed under the leadership of BJP. The second and third largest parties in NDA are TDP and JDU respectively. TDP has 16 MPs and JDU has 12 MPs.
