View In AppSamajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav has appointed Mata Prasad Pandey as the Leader of Opposition in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, a move that has drawn sharp criticism from Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati. Expressing her dissatisfaction with the decision, Mayawati accused the SP president of misleading the PDA (an alliance of marginalized communities) and claimed that the SP has no place for anyone outside a specific caste. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the BSP leader wrote, "The SP chief misled the PDA under the guise of saving the Constitution during the Lok Sabha elections and took their votes, but neglected them when appointing the Leader of Opposition in the UP Assembly. This shows that apart from a specific caste, there is no place for the PDA in SP, especially not for the Brahmin community, which has faced persecution and neglect under both SP and BJP governments. Their true development and upliftment have only happened under BSP rule. Therefore, these communities must stay vigilant."
