Kanpur Murder Mystery: Missing Kanpur Woman Found Dead After Four Months, Gym Trainer Arrested
A shocking murder case in Kanpur has left the community reeling. The most surprising aspect is that the murderer buried the victim's body in a pit located in the Officers' Compound adjacent to the residence of the District Magistrate, before disappearing without a trace. This unsettling incident traces back four months when a businessman's wife, Ekta Gupta, went missing on June 24, 2024, after leaving home for the gym. When she failed to return, her family filed a complaint with the police, but the Kanpur authorities merely conducted a superficial investigation and dismissed the case. Family members expressed suspicion towards Ekta's gym trainer, Vimal Soni, claiming he had lured her away. It was only after four months that the police finally apprehended him, and the shocking details that emerged during questioning left them stunned. Vimal confessed to murdering Ekta and burying her body in a field near the District Magistrate’s residence. This revelation led to a swift investigation, with officials quickly organizing a team to locate the burial site. Upon digging in the indicated area, they discovered a six-foot pit, from which human skeletal remains were exhumed. The forensic team has secured the remains for further investigation. According to the police, Ekta regularly visited the gym in Civil Lines, where she had an altercation with Vimal. Despite having a seemingly good rapport, things turned violent when Ekta learned of Vimal's engagement. The confrontation escalated to a tragic end in Vimal's car, where he fatally attacked her. In a panic, he buried her body in the Officers' Compound. To identify the remains, Ekta’s husband, Rahul Gupta, was called in, but by then, her body had decomposed into a skeleton. Fragments of her clothing and some jewelry facilitated her identification, leaving Rahul devastated and speechless, as he mourned the loss of his wife while considering the impact on their two children.
