A hearing in the Kashi Vishwanath temple-Gyanvapi mosque controversy was deferred by the Allahabad High Court on Friday until July 6. The HC was considering a petition challenging a dispute suit currently pending in a Varanasi court. Six petitions have been filed before the High Court on the situation. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court is due to resume hearings on the Gyanvapi mosque issue today (May 20), after adjourning the case for a day at the request of the Hindu plaintiffs. The matter will be heard again in Varanasi on May 23.
