Gujarat Floods: Heavy Rain Disrupts Livelihood, Watch Big Updates If The Hour Only On ABP News

Heavy rains continue to wreak havoc in Gujarat, leading to flood-like conditions in several districts as rivers overflow. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Thursday, predicting extremely heavy rainfall in parts of Saurashtra and Kutch. Winds are expected to reach speeds of 45 to 55 km/h in the southwestern Arabian Sea, with gusts up to 65 km/h. Along the Gujarat coast, bordering Pakistan and the northeastern and east-central Arabian Sea, winds could reach 55 to 65 km/h. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into these areas. So far, 26 people have lost their lives due to rain-related incidents in Gujarat. In Vadodara, the situation remains dire, with floodwaters from the Vishwamitri River breaching its banks and inundating residential areas. Buildings, roads, and vehicles are submerged, prompting the army to assist in relief efforts. Over 17,800 people have been relocated to safer areas, and around 1,200 people trapped in the floods have been rescued. The relentless rain continued for the fourth consecutive day on Wednesday, with Saurashtra's Porbandar, Rajkot, Jamnagar, and Dwarka receiving 50 to 200 millimeters of rain between 6 PM and midnight. Bhanvad Taluka in Dwarka district recorded the highest rainfall of 185 millimeters.
