Actor-politician Mithun Chakraborty has been awarded the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the highest government honor for contributions to the film industry. A three-time National Award winner, he made history as one of the few actors to win the Best Actor award on his debut and has appeared in over 200 films across Hindi, Bengali, Bhojpuri, Odia, Telugu, and Tamil. Renowned for his acting prowess and dance skills, Mithun was a major star during the 80s and 90s and has successfully transitioned to supporting roles in recent years. His notable films include Disco Dancer, Mrigayaa, Gudia, Guru, and Oh My God. The announcement was made by Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, who stated, “Mithun Da’s extraordinary cinematic journey serves as an inspiration for generations! I am honored to share that the Dadasaheb Phalke Selection Jury has chosen legendary actor Sh. Mithun Chakraborty Ji for his iconic contributions to Indian cinema.”
