In a significant operation, the Special Task Force (STF) of Kolkata Police detained Mohammad Ismail Khan, a 53-year-old man from Jharkhand, on Saturday night. The arrest occurred at Baithak Khana Road after the police acted on a tip-off regarding illegal firearms. Upon searching the location, the STF uncovered a significant cache of weapons, including three single-shot firearms, two semi-automatic pistols, and several live cartridges. The firearms and ammunition were seized as evidence, and a case has been registered against Khan for possessing illegal arms. The operation underscores the STF’s continued vigilance in tackling illegal weapon trade and maintaining law and order in Kolkata. Following the arrest, Khan was taken into custody, and further investigations are underway to uncover any possible connections to criminal activities or networks. The police are also examining the origin of the firearms and whether they were intended for use in any unlawful activities. Khan is expected to appear in court today, where legal proceedings will take place. The STF’s prompt action has been praised for preventing potential criminal acts in the city. The police are committed to strengthening efforts to ensure public safety by curbing illegal arms trafficking in the region.
