Breaking News: After Champai Soren, Another Senior JMM Leader May Also Leave the Party | ABP News
Speculation is rife that Champai Soren, former Chief Minister of Jharkhand and current minister in the Hemant Soren government, may join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Rumors suggest that he, along with six MLAs from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), could switch allegiance to the BJP. Amidst these speculations, Champai Soren arrived in New Delhi on Sunday, August 18. When asked by reporters about the possibility of joining the BJP, Champai Soren downplayed the rumors, stating, "I am here in Delhi for personal work. My children live here, and I came to visit them. That's why I often travel to Delhi, and today is no different." On being further pressed about joining the BJP, he reiterated, "I am where I am right now." Regarding rumors of a meeting with BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari in Kolkata, he clarified, "I did not meet anyone in Kolkata. I am here in Delhi for personal work and will share more details later." Notably, Champai Soren has removed the JMM's name from his social media profile on platform X, and the party's flag has also been taken down from his ancestral home. Reacting to the speculation, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut accused the BJP of trying to destabilize the Jharkhand government. BJP insiders hinted that Champai Soren is fully prepared to join the party during his Delhi visit, although the Hemant Soren group is reportedly trying to prevent this from happening, and different outcomes may unfold.
