Big Win For West Bengal Govt As SC Upholds Maintainability Of It Suit Against Centre | ABP News
In a significant victory for the Mamata Banerjee government, the Supreme Court ruled on Wednesday that the State of West Bengal's suit against the Centre is valid, regarding the registration of FIRs by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the state following the revocation of the State's general consent in November 2018. The Supreme Court stated that in our considered opinion, the Centre's contentions cannot be accepted, and the suit filed by West Bengal shall proceed as maintainable. The bench clarified that "these findings are solely to decide the preliminary objection of maintainability and will have no bearing on the case's merits when it is decided." The matter has been scheduled for framing issues in August.
