The agent alleges TMC goons fired at his house in Purnanagar and ransacked another in Pyradanga, leaving him panicked and refusing to go to the booth. By-elections are underway in four assembly seats - Maniktala, Ranaghat Dakshin, Bagdah, and Raiganj - with around 10 lakh voters casting their ballots. Heavy security deployment is in place, but incidents of violence have raised concerns. Voting began at 7 am and will continue till 6 pm. The by-elections are seen as a test of strength for the ruling TMC and the opposition BJP in the state.
