Amarnath Yatra 2024: First Lot Of Devotees Leave For Pilgrimage, Watch Report | ABP News
The facility of token distribution for offline registration of devotees wishing to undertake Amarnath Yatra has started from Wednesday. Officials said that the rehearsal for safe movement of vehicles on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway has been successfully completed ahead of the annual pilgrimage starting this weekend. This 52-day pilgrimage to see Shivalinga in the cave temple of Amarnath will start from June 29. To reach this cave situated at an altitude of 3,880 meters above sea level, one travels through two routes. The first route is the 48 km long traditional Nunwan-Pahalgam route in Anantnag while the second route is the 14 km long Baltal route in Ganderbal. This route is short but has a steep climb. The first batch of pilgrims will leave for the valley from Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu on June 28. Last year, more than 4.5 lakh pilgrims had visited Baba Barfani inside the cave temple. Hundreds of pilgrims coming from outside Jammu and Kashmir waited for hours to get their tokens for offline Amarnath registration in Jammu.
