250 kg onions stolen from Surat vegetable market
The staggering hike in onion prices seems to be forcing the consumers to take illegal measures. In a shocking incident, around 250 kilograms of onion were stolen by some unidentified people from Surat vegetable market.
The government on Wednesday said the restrictions on stock holding of onions, whose production has been hit by 26 per cent due to rain damage, would remain till further orders despite all efforts to get the bulb from other countries at the earliest.
Union Minister Paswan said, “Since rain has impacted the production, I can’t give any timeline about fall in onion prices. We are making all possible efforts.”
