The election of Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha is took place on Thursday with NDA nominee Harivansh contesting against UPA candidate BK Hariprasad.
Though neither Bharatiya Janta Party, nor Congress is in majority, the numbers hint at favouring NDA, after Biju Janata Dal President and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday declared support for them.
“Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had spoken to me and our party will support the JD(U) candidate in the Rajya Sabha's deputy chairman election”, Patnaik told reporters on his return from Mumbai.
